The Miyetti Allah group has issued a press release declaring its support and solidarity for the APC candidate in the July 14, 2018 election in Ekiti state.
Our correspondence learnt that a signed copy of this press release has been issued to News Agency of Nigeria and channels Television but the authority of these media houses have issued a directive that the statement must not be released. An anonymous staff of Channels television made us understand that the directive was in compliance with the plea from Femi Adesina who believes that such statement will deter the image of their candidate in the upcoming election.
According to our source, the Miyetti Allah were said to have met Dr. Kayode Fayemi earlier in April 2018, one of the outcomes of the meetings was the promise by APC candidate to overturn the anti-open grazing law passed by the current administration to bring about a smooth and peaceful grazing of cows in the state. Governor Nasir El’Rufai of Kaduna state and Governor Yari were also reported to be present in the meeting which ended with some undisclosed agreement.
The Miyetti Allah’s release was said to have expressed bitter anger towards the Fayose’s administration in Ekiti as they believe it has stymied their activities to graze their cows and also make use of their ancestral grazing routes in Ekiti to other states like Ondo and Osun state.
All effort to obtain a copy of the document has proven to be abortive. The efforts to confirm the authenticity of this information is yet to be fruitful.
